7 Types of Reels Your Brand Should Be Posting Right Now

Let’s talk Reels. If your team is still treating short-form video like a last-minute chore (or worse, avoiding it altogether), it’s time to rethink your approach. Reels aren’t just for dancing teenagers. They’re one of the most powerful tools for reach, storytelling, and conversion across every industry.

Not sure what to post? Here are 7 Reel formats that are performing across the board and simple ideas for how to adapt them to your brand:

1. POV Storytelling
Use the “POV” format to drop your audience right into an experience.
👉 POV: You finally hire someone to fix the problem you’ve been DIY-ing for six months.

2. Founder or Team Behind-the-Scenes
Introduce your team. Show your workspace. Talk about your process.
👉 This builds trust, makes your brand more human, and gives your audience someone to root for.

3. Quick Hacks & Tips
Whatever you sell, you’ve got knowledge your audience wants.
👉 Share quick, digestible value that feels shareable and useful. Think: "3 ways to make this easier," "You’re doing this wrong, here’s how to fix it."

4. Hot Takes & Opinions
The algorithm loves strong opinions.
👉 Share your take on an industry myth, trend, or mistake you keep seeing.
“Stop doing this if you want to grow…” is a great hook.

5. Personal Wins or Fails
People relate to honesty and behind-the-scenes chaos.
👉 Show what didn’t work. Talk about something that flopped. Or celebrate a tiny (but meaningful) win.

6. FAQs Answered Creatively
If people keep asking you the same question, turn it into a Reel.
👉 Use trending audio, add humor, or break it into a mini tutorial.

7. UGC-Style Testimonials
Nothing converts like a real person saying, “This changed my life.”
👉 Even if it’s just your team pretending to be your customer, shoot a lo-fi, selfie-style video and let the testimonial speak for itself.

You don’t need to reinvent the wheel. You just need a few strong formats to rotate through. Master these seven, and you’ll have a month’s worth of content ready to go.

For Paid Subscribers: A New Take on Weekly Trends

We’re trying something a little different today.

As I was scrolling through my saved Reels this week, I noticed a shift. There weren’t many B-roll-based trends that felt worth sharing. Instead of forcing it, I pulled together a batch of trending formats that are still easy to create, but slightly more thoughtful in their execution. These aren't just plug-and-play with old footage… you’ll want to plan your clips so the vibe and context actually match.

Let me know if you like this new direction, or if you want the old B-roll-focused format back in June. Either way, I’m off next week for Memorial Day!

Okay, let’s get into it 👇
